LIBRARY NEWS: Lake Placid library re-opening for limited browsing
We are now well into March and are noticing all the signs of spring, which officially arrived on Saturday, March 20.
This past year has been difficult for so many of us dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and the many changes in our daily lives. Now that we are experiencing lower infection numbers, we at the Lake Placid Public Library have decided to open for limited browsing, for patrons only, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Curbside service is still available. Please wear a mask and use hand sanitizer upon entry. Gloves are also available.
We hope everyone has had a chance to check out our new website. There are numerous resources for all age groups and a variety of interests. There are research tools, subject guides and useful resources compiled by your friendly library professionals.
You can request books online through our website. Click on catalog, search by title, author, genre or series, and when you find what you are looking for, click the request button (you will need to provide your library card number and pin number). Or you can call 518-523-3200 for assistance.
AARP tax preparation
The AARP volunteers are diligently working to complete the tax returns for the long list of names they have compiled since January. They are now only taking names for a waiting list. We thank them for all their hard work and determination to assist so many people in our community during this difficult year.
Children’s room activity
We want to send a big thank you to Anja and the Clinton, Essex, Franklin Library System for providing us with adorable puppet kits to give away to our young patrons. They were enjoyed by all!
Ms. Armstrong, Ms. Trish and Chicken have been working on a new adventure for all their library friends. If you visit the library Facebook page, you will be able to see what they are up to for the months of March and April. They have prepared some activity packets for the children to have. Please stop by the library to get your friendship pack.
Ms. Linda’s story time
Every Friday morning at 10:30, Ms. Linda meets with preschool children via Zoom. She shares stories and songs that encourage participation from her young friends.
Anyone wishing to join the story group should email Bambi at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 518-523-3200 to be invited.
Library budget vote
On Tuesday, May 11, the Lake Placid Public Library budget vote will be held at the library from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mark your calendar, and stop in to vote.
