LAKE PLACID — Members of the Lake Placid Village Board of Trustees on Monday, June 26 approved the proposed $6.6 million budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

To cover the majority of its proposed $6,664,339 budget, the village board will levy — or collect — $4,157,280 in property taxes from village property owners. That’s a $97,753 increase, roughly 2.4%, compared to $4,059,527 in taxes collected through the village’s 2022-23 budget. The 2023-24 levy meets the state tax cap.

The tax rate under the new budget will be around $4.60 per $1,000 in assessed value, according to village Treasurer Mindy Goddeau. That’s a decrease from around $5.10 per $1,000 in the 2022-23 budget. For homeowners with a property assessed at $300,000, village taxes would amount to roughly $1,380 per year.

The village board held a public hearing on its budget on Monday, June 5. No one commented on the budget.

Starting at $1.44/week.
