‘Wild Words’ teen anthology to be released Saturday in Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE — Seventy teen writers from around the Adirondacks will see their creative work published in the second “Wild Words Adirondack Teen Writing Anthology” this spring.

The book will launch at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Harrietstown Town Hall, 39 Main St, Saranac Lake. The event is free and open to the public and will feature readings by some of the 2024 contributors. Copies of the 2023 and 2024 anthologies will be available for sale for a donation of $5 each.

Writing for the anthology came from over 45 different towns in and around the North Country. The 70 selected contributors range from 13 to 19 years old and have written a variety of different genres, including poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction.

Featured readers will include Evan Beech (Westport), Luke Dalton (Chateaugay), Erica Klein (Willsboro), Loralei Rivera (Plattsburgh), Zadalyne Snyder (Malone), Lucy Thill (Lake Clear), Bingo Valentin (Saranac Lake), Jeshua Wilkinson (Saranac), Dave Bresett (Saranac Lake), Nat Todd (Canton), Robert Hill (Brant Lake), Madeleine Savage (AuSable Forks) and Bali Thurston (Saranac Lake).

The “Wild Words Adirondack Teen Writing Anthology” is a collaboration between visiting writer Erin Dorney and the Adirondack Center for Writing as part of the Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Employment Program. CRNY, a project of the Tides Center, is a three-year, $125 million investment in the financial stability of New York State artists and the organizations that employ them.

The Adirondack Center for Writing has been bringing people and words together for 25 years through provocative events and meaningful programs.
