APA meeting set for March 16

RAY BROOK — The Adirondack Park Agency was scheduled to hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 16 at APA headquarters.

At 10 a.m., the Full Agency was to convene for Executive Director Barbara Rice’s monthly report, public comment, and other procedural actions.

At 10:30 a.m., the Administration Committee was to consider amending two agency polices and its delegation resolution.

At 11:15 a.m., the State Land Committee was to convene for a presentation from APA and state Department of Environmental Conservation staff on a fourth alternative for the Wild Forest Basic Guideline No.4 — No Material Increase of Roads on Wild Forest classified state lands interpretation. Staff will request the board to authorize a joint 30-day public comment period.

At 1:30 p.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee was to consider a variance request to expand an existing two-slip non-conforming boathouse to add a third covered slip in the town of Brighton, Franklin County.

At 2:45 p.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee was to convene to honor Women’s History Month.

Sandra Weber — Adirondack author, performer and lecturer — was to give a “Remarkable Women of the Adirondacks” historical presentation, highlighting the accomplishments of several extraordinary women who throughout their lives displayed courage, fortitude and perseverance in the pursuit of just causes and goals. Local artist Georgeanne Gaffney was also scheduled to discuss the impacts and inspiration the natural wonders of the Adirondacks has on her work. A fine arts exhibit of Weber’s photos and paintings by local artist Georgeanne Gaffney was to be on display to honor Women’s History Month — “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Story.”

At 2:45 p.m., the Full Agency was to convene to take any necessary actions.
