KEENE — Stewart’s Shops is opening 17 new stores this year, including one currently under construction on state Route 73 in Keene and the Indian Lake store that opened on Wednesday, Sept. 23, according to spokeswoman Erica Komoroske.

“This shop is part of our $25M investment … in 2019-2020,” Komoroske wrote in an email.

New stores over the past couple of years include those in Port Henry, Schroon Lake, Chestertown, North Creek, Elizabethtown, Peru, Lake Luzerne and Malone.

The new Keene store is being built behind the current one. Construction began in July, and the new 4,020-square-foot store is slated to open Nov. 2, with a grand opening celebration to be held later in the year, Komoroske said.

The old Keene store will be torn down, and the site will be used for parking.

Expansion will include the doubling of gas pumps — from four to eight nozzles. And diesel and kerosene will be sold; those are not currently available.

Starting at $1.44/week.
