She’ll be decorating the empty storefront her husband co-owns with the names and photographs of the students. She has ordered a banner to hang up on the building as well.

“I felt bad because the kids didn’t have anything,” Hackett said. “They are missing a good chunk of their senior year and all those memories.”

Hackett also plans on using other school memorabilia to decorate the storefront. She will use things such as jerseys and props from the school’s musical to help commemorate the memories the seniors have made at AuSable Valley.

“Hopefully it will start coming together in the next couple weeks,” Hackett said.

She is still waiting on the banner and more photos of the future graduates, but said that those she doesn’t get a photo of will still have their names displayed.

“I just want to put a smile on their faces if I can,” she said.
