LAKE PLACID — The Thursday Night Hustle, a new racing series in this village, has officially kicked off at the Mount Van Hoevenberg and will host events every week.

The summer series started on June 5 and will take place at Mount Van Hoevenberg every Thursday until Aug. 7. The event is both a trail run and a mountain bike race series — whichever the participant wants to do — for all levels.

The Thursday Hustle starts at the cross-country and biathlon stadium in front of the Mountain Pass Lodge. Participants can access the start from the second level of the lodge, over the pedestrian bridge.

Runners and riders are divided up based on their discipline and by age. There is a 12 and under group, which features either a 3K run or a 5K bike. The other group is 13-year-olds and up, and features a 5K run or a 10K bike. Bikers kick off the racing at 6 p.m., followed by the runners five minutes later.

Registration is $5 per race or $25 for the full 10-race series (single discipline). It is also free for season pass holders and participants under 13.

Number pickup starts at 5 p.m. at the Mountain Pass Lodge. Same-day registration is open until 5:30 p.m. First-time racers will receive a number that will be reused each week; replacements are available if lost

There will be weekly raffle prizes, as well as series and age group awards and the best four races count toward series standings.
