How might we honor them?
To the editor:
As I sit here thinking about Memorial Day, I am thinking about its origin, and about those who had their lives cut short, and about their grieving families, and about what they may have died for. Surely part of what they died for was the safety of their loved ones, for our country, our way of life and for our democracy.
And this, our democracy … it can’t work if we don’t vote.
Perhaps one concrete action we can take, year after year, to honor those who gave their lives, is to make the effort to vote. In addition to thoughts and prayers, hotdogs and hamburgers, commit to vote. Just vote.
