LPHS Class of 1967 graduation

LAKE PLACID — Several days after the Olympic Arena opened its summer ice skating season, and while the Palace Theatre was screening “The Sound of Music,” the Lake Placid High School Class of 1967 — 57 seniors — graduated in the school’s auditorium on Friday, June 23, 1967 (Adirondack Daily Enterprise, June 26, 1967).

Nancy Hart (Beattie) was the valedictorian, and Elizabeth Marvin was the salutatorian.

“After we graduate tonight, we will head in many different directions: some to higher education, some into the service, some immediately to their jobs,” Hart said during her valedictory speech. “As we are sitting here, many of us are thinking about what we hope to accomplish.
