The Lake Placid Lions Club held its annual Radio Auction on Nov. 18.

This event has traditionally been the largest annual fundraiser, and this year’s auction proved once again to do just that.

The broadcast was held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through a donation of airtime by radio station Lake FM 100.7/102.1FM with the headquarters being located at the Shipman Youth Center. This facility provided great space for organization and announcing, with the added benefit of convenient parking for volunteers and those coming to pick up their winnings.

Lunches were generously provided to volunteers working at the auction by Sodexo live, which is the company that provides catering services to the state Olympic Regional Development Authority. The success of this event is due to the annual support and contributions by the entire community including organizations such as ORDA; USA Luge; town of North Elba; dozens of businesses, including resort hotels, motels, restaurants, ski shops, retail stores and shops, contractors, gas stations and liquor stores; individual cash contributors; and participants who bid on donated items.

The funds generated support many local causes involving the High Peaks Hospice, Lake Placid Ecumenical Food Pantry, Christmas party for town children, a youth ski jump competition, Diabetes Foundation, Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, North Country Life Flight, Shipman Youth Center, Boy Scouts and many other services for our community.

The Lake Placid Lions Club offers its sincerest thanks and appreciation to all the above for your generous donations and services.
