We at the Wilmington E. M. Cooper Memorial Public Library are thrilled to announce the award of a New York State Public Library Construction Grant in the amount of $88,076 to assist in the upcoming remodel of the library. The renovation will include a new ceiling, flooring, lighting and new bookshelves.

We are working closely with Howl at the Moon Mechanicals, which shares the library’s goal of refreshing the interior while keeping the nostalgic charm.

Due to the nature of the project, the library will need to temporarily close for about 12 weeks. The library will be closed starting the week of Nov. 14 and hope to reopen at the beginning of February. During this time, as always, patrons can visit one of the 33 member libraries in the Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

The children’s programming will continue, but the venue will be changed to the Wilmington Youth Center. The highly anticipated “Friends of the Library” Annual Cookie Sale will be held on Dec. 10 at the Wilmington Community Center. There is a raffle to help assist with construction costs with 10 different raffle prizes. The prizes range from ski passes, local gift certificates, a quilt and assorted gift baskets. The raffle is sponsored by Adirondack Chocolate, Adirondack Mountain Coffee Caf, The Hungry Trout, Kimberly & Company Salon, Rudy’s Scar Bar, Santa’s Workshop, Terry Robards Wines and Spirits, Up a Creek and Whiteface Mountain Ski Center.

The Board of Trustees wishes to thank the town of Wilmington, Lake Placid and AuSable Valley Central School Districts, our sponsors, and all of our patrons for their ongoing support.

Starting at $1.44/week.
