Winter storm warning issued for Adirondacks

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northern New York and Vermont and is expected to bring between 7 and 15 inches of snow in the North Country.

In New York, the winter storm warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday, March 11 to 1 a.m. Sunday, March 13. It includes Essex, Franklin, Clinton and St. Lawrence counties.

On Friday, snow is likely before 9 p.m., then a chance of snow showers between 9pm and midnight, then snow after midnight. Low will be around 25. South wind will be 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

On Saturday, snow could be heavy at times. There will be areas of blowing snow after 3 p.m. The temperature will fall to around 15 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values will be as low as minus 1F. Northwest wind will be 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Expect new snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches.

On Saturday night, there will be snow, mainly before 2 a.m., then a chance of snow showers after 2 a.m. There will be areas of blowing snow. Low will be around 4F. Wind chill values will be as low as minus 12F. It will be breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.
