LAKE PLACID — The Mirror Lake Beach was packed on Aug. 11 as more than 100 people turned out for the final High Peaks Cyclery mini-triathlon of the season, wrapping up its 41st year.
Lake Placid native Colin Delaney posted the fastest time overall, winning the men’s race in a time of 58 minutes, 28 seconds. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Izzo, also of Lake Placid, secured her sixth women’s mini-tri of the season in 1:01:19. Izzo competed in six of this season’s seven races.
Dylan Cohen of Saranac Lake placed second on the men’s side in 1:00:00, while Sam Boese, also of Saranac Lake, earned third in 1:01:39.
The women’s top three was rounded out by Lake Placid’s Renee Towne (1:12:02) in second, followed by Glens Falls resident Justine Trybendis (1:12:30) in third.
In the team’s division, the squad of Grace Hiltinen, Will Trithart and Steve Gerco, all of Potsdam, were the overall winners in 1:04:46.

Based on their results throughout the season, Izzo and Cohen secured the overall titles in the overall points standings in their respective divisions for the second year in a row. Izzo won the women’s series title with 42 points, while Cohen was the men’s winner with 30.
Elizabethtown resident Kevin Bouchard-Hall, who won the first three mini-tris of the season, finished in second place overall on the men’s side with 27 points. Paul Ford of Jay secured third place with 18 points.
Izzo’s sister, Anna Nyman, was second overall in the women’s standings with 22 points. Nyman was the only other women’s mini-tri winner this season. Carol Pearl of Plattsburgh was third overall with 21 points.
The race series, which was held nearly every Monday starting on June 23, featured a 400-yard swim in Mirror Lake, a 12-mile bike around the River Road Loop, and a 3-mile run down and back Mount Whitney Road.
Nearly 200 people earned points toward the overall standings this season. For more information and overall standings results, visit the High Peaks Cyclery website at tinyurl.com/yhd6wxhx
