SLP girls lax fall to Salmon River, 5-4

SARANAC LAKE — The Salmon River Shamrocks defeated SLP 5-4 on the road Monday.

SLP struggled offensively in the early going, trailing 3-0 at halftime. But after the intermission, the offense played better as SLP’s Tyler Burth scored with 2 minutes to play to pull within one goal.

SLP’s defensive players Stephanie Kilbourne-Hill, Ireland Cassidy, Kaylee Holmes and Karissa Holmes all played an excellent game, according to the team’s coaching staff. Maddy Clark, an eighth grader, started in net for SLP and had an outstanding game with seven saves.

Tyler Burth finished with three goals, while Kelsi Burth scored once and added an assist. SLP again controlled the draw circle, winning eight out of 12 face-offs.

Salmon River’s goalie Jemma Jacobs was solid en route to the win.

SLP, which dropped to 3-2 overall, will take on Salmon River again at 6 p.m. today at home. Today’s game will kick off a four-game home stand.
