State cycling time trials set for next month
LAKE PLACID — Team Placid Planet is hosting the West-Woodward Memorial Time Trial/New York State Time Trial Championships on Sunday, Aug. 18.
The event will feature categories for cyclists in paracyclists, recumbent cyclists and tandems open to those aged 9 and up. Race organizers expect more than 100 cyclists from all over the state to compete for a state championship medal and a winner’s jersey. The races are open to non-New York residents, including Canadians, but medals and state championships are for state residents only.
Medalists and jersey winners must also hold a USA Cycling yearly license, which is available online. For new racers who don’t hold a license, novice categories are available for both men and women.
The race will begin at 11 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. It will take place on state Route 9N between Jay and Keene. Roads will not be closed and traffic delays are expected to be minimal, according to event organizers.
There will not be day of registration. All those interested must register prior to the race by visiting https://tinyurl.com/mt9pm6zn. Event volunteers are needed as well. Those who wish to volunteer can sign up at the same link.
