In the two-man bobsled event on March 22, Team USA’s Frank Del Duca and Manteo Mitchell placed fifth in a two-run time of 1 minute, 50.96 seconds. Teammates Kris Horn and Josh Williamson placed sixth with a time of 1:51.16.

Germany swept the two-man podium with Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller, winning the event in 1:49.70. Teammates Johannes Lochner and Joshua Tasche placed second in 1:49.95 and Adam Ammour and Benedikt Hertel were third in 1:50.60.

The final IBSF World Cup also counted as a continental championship for the athletes from North, Central and South America in a race-in-race classification.

In the Pan American competition, Del Duca and Mitchell placed first and Horn alongside Williamson took second. Canadians Taylor Austin and Shaq Murray-Lawrence were third.

Friedrich closed out the World Cup season with the overall title with 1,675 points, ahead of teamates Lochner (1,512 points) in second and Adam Ammour (1,410) in third. Del Duca placed eighth overall with 1,192 points.

In the two-woman event on March 23, Elana Meyers Taylor and Emily Renna placed sixth with their time of 1:54.53. Kaysha Love and Azaria Hill placed seventh with a time of 1:54.62. Sylvia Hoffman with Sydney Milani placed 13th with a time of 1:55.57 while Riley Tejcek alongside Jasmine Jones placed 14th a time of 1:55.62.

Germany’s Kim Kalicki and Leonie Fiebig won the two-woman race in 1:53.39. The British duo Adele Nicoll and Kya Placide finished second in 1:54.20. It was Nicoll’s first podium finish in her fourth start as a pilot in the IBSF World Cup. Germany’s Laura Nolte with Claudia Schussler finished in third place with a time of 1:54.24.

In the Pan American division, Meyers Taylor and Renna took first, Love and Hill took second, Hoffman and Milani took fifth and Tejcek and Jones took sixth place. The bronze medal went to the Canadian duo Cynthia Appiah and Morgan Ramsay.

Germany’s Nolte won the overall standings for two-woman with 1,720 points, she finished ahead of teammates Kalicki in second with 1,683 and Lisa Buckwitz in third with 1,539. Meyers Taylor placed fifth overall with 1,240 points and Love was 11th with 896 points.

In the final World Cup race — the four-man event — on March 23, Del Duca’s team of Williamson, Adrian Adams and Manteo Mitchell placed seventh while Horn, Jace Johnson, Hakeem Abdul-Saboor and Darius Joseph placed eighth with times of 55.19 and 55.26 respectively.

In the Pan American circuit, Team Del Duca took second and Team Horn took third. The Canadian team Taylor Austin, Shaq Murray-Lawrence, Anthony Couturier and DeVaughn McEwan won the Pan-American title.

The four-man event was held as just one run due to a crash during the second heat of the competition causing severe damage to the track. The results were solely based on the first heat of the competition.

Germany’s Friedrich piloted the team of Thorsten Margis, Matthias Sommer and Felix Straub to a win in 54.75. Lochner’s team of Florian Bauer, Joshua Tasche and Georg Fleischhauer placed second in 54.92 and Ammour’s team of Nick Stadelmann, Erik Leypold and Rupert Schenk were third in 55.03.

With his fifth four-man win of the season, Friedrich took the gold crystal globe trophy for the overall World Cup victory with 1,745 points. Team Emils Cipulis of Latvia was second with 1,529 points, ahead of Team Lochner with 1,515. Del Duca closed out the season in 14th place overall with 504 points.

Bob Balk took home gold for Team USA on March 23 in La Plagne, France at the IBSF Para Sport World Cup with his time of 2:13.77.

“It has been a fun week here in La Plagne getting to learn a new track. (The March 23) win was a surprise, I had a great first run but less great second run,” Balk said.

Austin Parker took eighth with a time of 2:14.56, Will Castillo placed ninth with a time of 2:14.64 and David Christopher was 14th in 2:17.02.
