Local NYSEF athletes medal at Cup in Catskills

Athletes from the New York Ski Educational Foundation competed in the U14 Mud Sweat N’ Gears Cup this past weekend at Belleayre Mountain and Windham Mountain. The race featured a slalom at Belleayre Mountain on Jan. 20 and a giant slalom on Jan. 21.

Lake Placid native Nora Petrocci skied to the first place spot for the girls giant slalom and Luke Wardlaw, also of Lake Placid, placed third for the boys giant slalom. Awards were presented each day to the top five athletes.

NYSEF Winter term athlete Evelyn Palma of Plattsburgh placed fourth in the Belleayre slalom. Bloomingdale native Leland Carpenter placed within the top 10 on both days of racing, skiing into sixth place in the slalom on Jan. 20 and eighth place in the giant slalom on Jan. 21.
