LAKE PLACID — Despite playing on a cold and rainy afternoon, the Lake Placid boys’ soccer team caught fire in the second half to take down the Seton Catholic Knights 3-0 at home on Oct. 13.

The Blue Bombers scored three straight goals in less than a seven-minute span to shut out the Knights. With the win, the team improves to 6-5-2 on the season.

Lincoln Norfolk put Lake Placid on the board 17:16 into the second half after collecting a rebound just inside the box. Less than six minutes later, Grady Draper scored his first goal of the season when he kicked the ball over the head of Seton Catholic’s goalkeeper and into the upper right-hand corner of the net.

Draper then showed off his playmaking abilities when he made a pass to Brady Tremblay, who cut between two Knights’ defenders before lightly tapping the ball into the back of the net.

“When the wind wasn’t as strong, we knew that the ball was going to move faster and it was moving as fast as I would have liked in the first half,” Hemsley said. “In the second half, we got a little bit more of a grip of it and protected Jordan (Deforest) well. We didn’t pepper their goalkeeper.”

Lake Placid’s goalkeeper, Deforest, recorded five saves in net, while Seton Catholic’s Cooper Metcalf had 14 stops. The Blue Bombers outshot the Knights 16-6.

Hemsley credited Alex Wright and Mikey Mezzetti for their play in Thursday’s game. Mezzetti picked up an assist in the win, while Wright was solid on the defensive side.

Following the win, the Blue Bombers defeated Boquet Valley in the last game of the regular season.

“Now is when we need to start winning games,” Hemsley said.
