LAKE PLACID — Five Lake Placid softball players were recognized for their efforts on the diamond this season after being named to the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference all-star teams.

Megan Quinn and Brooklyn Huffman were named Division I All-stars, while Emma Adragna, Danaya Patterson and Dariana Patterson were named honorable mentions.

The five Lake Placid players, who are all seniors, helped guide the team to a record of 8-5 on the season while reaching the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C championship game for the first time since 2014.

Huffman led the Blue Bombers on the mound this season, while Quinn was the team’s first baseman.

During the playoffs, Huffman recorded two wins while striking out 11 total batters in the three games the team played. In the regular season, Huffman put together one of her best outings against Johnsburg/Minerva when she struck out 10 batters.

Quinn was dominant during the playoffs for Lake Placid. From the plate, she picked up five hits, including a walk-off single in the quarterfinal matchup against Moriah and batting four-for-four against Northern Adirondack in the semifinals.

Adragna, who played catcher for Lake Placid, caught fire during the postseason, recording back-to-back two-hit games in the quarterfinals and semifinal games. During the semifinal matchup against an undefeated Northern Adirondack team, Adragna hit a two-run home run to help the squad secure the upset victory.

Just like Adragna, Danaya Patterson hit a home run in the team’s playoff run. Patterson, who has played on the varsity team since 2019, hit a home run during the quarterfinal game against Moriah and almost before the opposing team made a great defensive play that was able to tag her out at home plate.

Her twin sister Dariana Patterson, who played shortstop for Lake Placid, was honored as well. After falling to Johnsburg/Minerva during the regular season, Dariana had one of her best games of the season a week later with three hits against the same Johnsburg/Minerva squad.
