SLP laxers falls in season opener

SARANAC LAKE — Despite having limited practice time outside due to the weather, the Saranac Lake Placid girls lacrosse team had a solid outing in their season opener, but ultimately lost 10-6 to the Potsdam Sandstoners playing on the road Tuesday night.

Seniors and SLP captains Alex LaDue and Syndey Dann led the way, recording a combined six points in the loss. LaDue scored three goals and one assist, while Dann had one goal and one assist.

Sophomores Kaitlyn Yando and Phoebe Peer had strong performances. Yando scored one goal and Peer had one assist in the loss.

With the loss, the girls start the season with a record of 0-1. The team will play their next game after spring break against Salmon River Central on April 26 at 4:30 p.m.
