Three Tri-Lakes runners competed at the 48th annual Federation Championship at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger Falls on Nov. 20.

The Federation Championships showcase the best runners from not only the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, but the Public Schools Athletic League, New York State Association of Independent Schools and the New York Catholic High School Athletic Association as well.

On the boys side, Saranac Lake’s Sam Ash finished in 53rd place out of the 281 boys that ran. He finished with a time of 17 minutes and 11.8 seconds.

Ash had previously competed in the Federation Championship as a freshman. He earned 164th place with a time of 18:01.80 in 2019.

Lake Placid’s Andrew Scanio was the next Tri-Lakes boys runner to cross the finish line. Scanio finished in 113th place with a time of 17:46.7.

Apart from Ash and Scanio, Beekmantown’s Connor Goodwin (17:35.9) was the only other boys runner to represent Section VII. Goodwin finished in 93rd place.

On the girls side, Lake Placid’s Samantha Damico took 43rd place out of the 285 runners. Damico’s time of 19:36.3 was good enough to earn her the second-highest among eighth-graders.

Representing Section VII along with Damico was Saranac’s Siena Boulds, who finished in 70th place. Boulds, also an eighth-grader, finished with a time of 20:07.6.

Starting at $1.44/week.
