Van Den Berg joins USA Bobsled and Skeleton
LAKE PLACID — USA Bobsled and Skeleton is proud to announce the addition of Marc Van Den Berg to the team as the Technical and Equipment Lead.
Van Den Berg will develop and manage a competitive and sustainable technology and equipment strategy to ensure optimal performance by USABS athletes.
“I’m really looking forward to this next step in my career as a bobsled technician,” Van Den Berg said. “I’ve gained knowledge and expertise working with several nations, and have had great success. I could never have imagined where I am today, working for Team USA. To me it’s a dream come true.”
Van Den Berg’s fabrication skills in welding, machining, and high-performance composites were learned while working at the highest level of motorsports in Europe, and he refined his abilities during 12 years of building, testing, and tuning bobsleds.
Van Den Berg entered his work in bobsled with the Dutch organization, where he built a sled for the team to use at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Van Den Berg comes to the U.S. program from Team Canada, where he’s worked since 2017.
“We are really looking forward to adding his expertise, wealth of knowledge, and experience to the team,” said USABS CEO Aron McGuire. “I’m confident that the collaboration between Marc and our existing partners will put our USA athletes in a great position to achieve their competitive goals.”
Van Den Berg, who hails from the Netherlands, will be moving to Lake Placid with his wife, Sonja.
“I am really happy USABS is based in the beautiful Adirondacks, and I’m looking forward to moving with my wife and our two bulldogs to Lake Placid,” Van Den Berg said.
