Shea’s wife Judy joined him on the ride. Shea Sr. competed in Nordic skiing in the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria and is a member of a three-generation Olympic family. His father Jack Shea won two gold medals in speedskating at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid and his son Jim Shea captured gold in skeleton at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
