Adirondack Health Turkey Trot attracts 233 participants
LAKE PLACID – The Adirondack Health 5K Turkey Trot drew a large crowd Thursday, Nov. 28 as 233 runners/walkers congregated at the Olympic Speedskating Oval for the annual charity race.
Brian Woods was the first overall finisher to cross the line, recording a time of 17 minutes, 33.7 seconds on a course that started at the Oval then traveled around Mirror Lake before returning to the starting area. Woods was followed by Sean Davis in 17:53 and Luke Merkel in 18:07.7.
Emily Layden was the top female finisher with a time of 19:36.7, which was good for sixth overall. Nina Armstrong (20:33.4) was the second female and Hannah Grall was third in 21:09.5.
Prizes were awarded to the first-, second- and third-place overall male and female finishers.
Adirondack Health hosted the event, with proceeds benefitting local school pantries and Adirondack Health’s Fit for Life program.
