The final show in the 1932 rink boasted both the greatest number of skaters (40), as well as what seemed to be the largest audience of any event this summer. Some spectators were even seen sitting in the side balcony to enjoy an exciting evening of skating performances.

As always, Bradley did what he does best – entertain the audience – with two programs that showcased impressive jumps and his signature backflip. His first program – to “Fire and the Flood” by Vance Joy – is an audience favorite that was previously skated in a 2016 Saturday Night Ice Show.

Bradley also performed a new Motown-themed program to “My Girl” and “Do You Love Me,” earning enthusiastic applause from the crowd. After the show, he signed programs and interacted with star-struck skaters, exhibiting the accessibility and friendliness that endears him to the skaters and coaches in Lake Placid.

Bradley’s skating life since his retirement from competitive skating in 2011 has remained a consistent blend of coaching, commentating for the Olympic Channel and NBC Sports and skating in shows.

“(I’m) just kind of doing my thing,” Bradley said. “I’m doing quite a bit of shows, still a significant number but not as much as I was, and focusing more on coaching and broadcasting than just skating.”

Bradley has spent the past summer in Sun Valley, Idaho. Sun Valley – the site of the Sonja Henie film, “Sun Valley Serenade” – also boasts a thriving summer skating program that includes its own Saturday Night Ice Shows. Bradley acknowledges the similarities, noting that “like Lake Placid, skaters come to Sun Valley for a week or two to train.”

Bradley lives and coaches in Chicago the rest of the year, working alongside 1981 World silver medalist David Santee, who placed fourth in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics.

“I’m lucky to coach a good group of kids, and there’s such a warm atmosphere working in Chicago,” Bradley said.

Bradley’s next skating performance will be Aug. 25 in Sun Valley, where their season is wrapping up soon as well.

Bradley enjoyed his time skating and coaching here in Lake Placid, and encouraged skating fans to attend the Stars on Ice show Dec. 30 in Lake Placid.

“I don’t know if I’ll be (performing), but it’s a good thing to share that Stars on Ice is going to be here,” he said. “The Stars on Ice family is important to me.”

The 2018 Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating program concludes with Adult Week Aug. 19-25, with programming exclusively for adult skaters that includes their own exhibition on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 25 in the 1980 rink. The next major skating event in Lake Placid is the North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships, Oct. 17-21.
