LAKE PLACID – A veteran Lake Placid Saturday Night Ice Show guest skater, 2009 US National Champion Ryan Bradley attracted a large audience Aug. 16 at the Olympic Center.

Skating to a rock ‘n’ roll medley and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” Bradley entertained the crowd with his energetic programs and characteristic showmanship.

Bradley, a frequent guest skater in Lake Placid, was last here during an ice show in February. Before that, he was in a holiday show in December and has also been here with the Stars on Ice tour.

In addition to performing, Bradley takes the time to offer private lessons and a seminar to skaters participating in the Lake Placid Summer Skating Camp. He said he enjoys playing a part in their development.

“I enjoy working with the kids – they are really sweet and make the job fun,” Bradley said. “(In the seminar) we did some technique work, played some training games to keep them active and having fun.”

During the summer, Bradley is based in Sun Valley, Idaho, a place he considers “the Lake Placid of the Rocky Mountains” because of its similar legendary skating history and multiple ice surfaces. As a resident performer at the Saturday Night Shows in Sun Valley and a busy coach, he certainly has a lot of practice in both show skating and coaching.

Bradley spends the rest of his time traveling for shows and other skating events. This year, he is working with the Ice Theatre of New York, once again joining them as a performer in Disson skating specials and skating in charity shows.

Even with this busy schedule, Bradley looks forward to his trips to Lake Placid.

“I look forward to it every year, coming to the rinks and working with the skaters and coaches,” Bradley said. “I would definitely miss it if I didn’t visit Lake Placid.”

The last Saturday Night Ice Show of the season will be Saturday, Aug. 23, with 2006 World Champion and 2007 National Champion Kimmie Meissner. For more information, visit www.lakeplacidskating.com.
