Post 447 ADKs tops Norwood, Montreal to win title

LAKE PLACID – After starting off the season with a controversial loss, it’s been all wins for the Post 447 Adirondacks baseball team.

The squad, comprised of North Country high school players, including six from Lake Placid, improved to 3-1 with three victories over the weekend.

Playing in the NLBL wooden bat league, Adirondacks topped Newport, Vermont 3-1 in a league game Friday, and then won two games as tournament host Saturday in matchups played at the North Elba Show Grounds.

In Saturday’s round-robin tournament, Adirondacks outscored its two opponents by a combined 20-6 while winning the title. Adirondacks started off the day with a 9-1 triumph over Norwood and then notched an 11-5 victory over the Montreal Prospects in the championship game.

The team travels to Cooperstown this weekend for a pair of games. It will play on Saturday against Axton and on Sunday, the team will step onto Doubleday Field for a rematch against Newport.
