New year fueled by joy

To the editor:

On behalf of the board and staff of the Arts Center Lake Placid, we would like to thank our entire community for this year’s Joy to the Children celebration. We are immensely grateful to the Weibrecht family for hosting this event and for their unwavering partnership over so many decades. This year’s gathering saw over 400 attendees, a storybook holiday setting, and an overwhelming sentiment of hope and care for the future of the Arts Center’s youth programming.

Thanks to the Weibrechts’ generosity and all of our supporters, we are able to continue offering free afterschool workshops, the School Day Matinee performance series, the free Young and Fun summer series and so much more. The impact on our region continues to grow each year — these programs reach over 15,000 students from five counties annually and provide foundational arts education experiences for students that aren’t available elsewhere.

We are honored to be part of a community that values creativity and furthers our mission to pass along the many lifelong benefits that staying engaged with the arts can provide to children across the Adirondack region. We thank everyone who helped to make this year’s event such a success, including those who purchased tickets at a benefactor level and our incredibly generous local businesses who contributed to our silent auction (the list of auction donors can be found online at bit.ly/joy2025donors).

Best wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season.
