Lake Placid Lions Club update

To the editor:

It has been a busy fall for members of the Lake Placid Lions Club featuring the Annual Radio Auction and Children’s Christmas Movie.

The annual radio auction was held on Saturday, Nov. 22 and once again has proven to be the largest fund raiser for the LPLC. Many thanks are owed to all of the local businesses and donors who generously gave products and/or cash donations. The products included many beautiful items and gift certificates that were sold over the air on Radio Lake FM 93.3 and 102.1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The LPLC is also very appreciative of Lake FM for broadcasting this event and to the Blue Line Insurance Agency for sponsoring this broadcast. In a nutshell we are very fortunate to live in a community with so many caring and generous citizens.

One of the most special LPLC events is the annual Palace Theatre Children’s Christmas Movie which is open to all kids, parents and guardians through the generosity of Mark and Laura Clark and family members on a complimentary basis. This year’s movie was attended by nearly 250 enthusiastic kids along with their parents or guardians.

Kudos to Lion Jerry Strack for his longtime involvement in heading this up which included soliciting and organizing gift bags for all kids in attendance, which were filled with treats including oranges, apples and sweet treats. These colorful bags were given out by Lion Club members as the attendees departed the theater.

Lion Bob Miller once again played Santa and many of the kids enjoyed his presence and careful ear of what they hoped to get on Christmas Day!

With the early snow falling from the sky, it seemed like a perfect day for a Christmas movie.

The LPLC is always open to new members. Feel free to contact any local lion if interested in seeing what the LPLC is all about.

On behalf of the Lake Placid Lions Club, we wish you Happy Holidays and a great new year.
