Community Day worth celebrating

To the Editor,

The Lake Placid Community Day organizing committee would like to remind everyone that the seventh annual Lake Placid Community Day is this Sunday, June 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds. All those who live, work or volunteer in the community are encouraged to attend.

The entirely free, annual celebration features free food and beverages, and live music by locally based band The McGraw Project. We are excited to have representatives from the Lake Placid Olympic and Paralympic Training Center serving up food at the event.

The event also features a host of activities for kids including face painting, balloon animals and a caricaturist. Surf’s Up is the theme for this year’s kids’ activities!

Lake Placid Community Day celebrates our community. It is a day to celebrate all who contribute to the community’s success whether it’s through work, volunteering or simply as a resident. Representatives from close to 40 community organizations will be on-hand to share information about their work within the community. Equally important, it is a day to just have fun and enjoy some time together.

Community Day also celebrates volunteers and the volunteer spirit that is the heart and soul of the Village of Lake Placid and the Town of North Elba. As part of this celebration, the committee will be honoring two individuals as Distinguished Volunteer of the Year.

We are excited to announce that the 2025 award recipients are Parker Scanio, youth and David Balestrini, adult.

The Community Day Celebration is a joint initiative of the Lake Placid / North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST).

The Lake Placid / North Elba Development Commission facilitates the implementation of the Lake Placid / North Elba Comprehensive Plan, which was developed in 2014. The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism is the destination marketing and management organization for Hamilton and Essex counties, along with the communities of Lake Placid, Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake.
