The best reason to vote
To the editor:
What is the best reason to vote? Survival! Americans are facing facts, like hurricanes that are now more frequent and deadly. NBC News reported this summer’s all-time record in Phoenix, Arizona: “61 days of temperatures at or above 110 degrees,” and five states that had their warmest summers ever in 2024. Ignoring facts and voters, some politicians cling to the doomed policy of “drill, baby, drill.” A complete denial of reality. All of us now face “exponentially escalating climate disasters” (Scientific American, April 5, 2024). More and more homes are burning, getting flooded or totally destroyed by hurricanes. Insurance companies refuse coverage in many areas. We are an endangered species. Our kids will end up cursing us unless we elect leaders now to keep our planet habitable, who support renewable energy. Vote for responsible leaders!
