Thanks for the Bike Jam support
To the editor:
On behalf of Barkeater Trails Alliance, I want to thank the village of Lake Placid, Mayor Devlin, the Board of Trustees, Chief Dobson and all of the staff for their support in putting on the BETA Community Bike Jam last Friday, Sept. 27.
The event was conceived by BETA and our partners, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism, Olympic Regional Development Authority and Bike Adirondacks as a way to provide a downtown celebration of biking that kids and families would enjoy and which would also draw many of the UCI World Cup spectators from Mount Van Hoevenberg into Lake Placid to experience the village and visit local shops.
The result was hundreds of people watching daredevil feats of cycling with riders thirty feet in the air and then relaxing to the great live music at Mid’s Park. An added thrill was having Christopher Blevins, two-time Olympian and World Cup Champion, join us to speak about his experience racing and then sign autographs at the BETA tent! We are very grateful to the village for working with us to make this event possible and hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
Best,
Glenn Glover
