Favors Feld for Hall of Fame
To the editor:
There truly are few people in this world like Dmitry Feld. He was our friend for the last 20 years, and we have watched him as he engaged in community happenings along with luge, skeleton and bobsledding internationally. As the daughter of Alan “Bob” Washbond, an Olympic gold medal bobsled winner in 1936 with his partner Ivan Brown, Dmitry and I had many discussions about bobsledding and luge and his great pride in the accomplishments of the luge competitors. Dmitry was one of a kind as he dealt with community issues and also global issues. His work in support of the Ukraine was unfathomable.
There are few members of the Lake Placid Hall of Fame who have supported the community and issues of national importance to the level Dmitry did. Someone has said that if there were more people in the world like Dmitry, it would be a much better place!
His loss will be truly felt in the Lake Placid community and this area of the Adirondacks.
We are honored to endorse his nomination to the Lake Placid Hall of Fame.
