LPVFD holding Recruit NY event on Saturday

To the editor:

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department recently purchased 32 new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. They replace the current air packs that were purchased in 2005. The department has already held training with the new airpacks and they are on the trucks and ready to go! The new 45 min. cylinders replace 30 minute cylinders, giving firefighters more time to get the job done and safely. The airpacks and masks also have easier to read displays and further features that make them safer and more efficient overall.

Thank you to the community for your support and donations, this purchase would not have been possible without you! These airpacks are truly our lifelines and we are so grateful for our community for keeping us safe.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Dept. will also be participating in “Recruit NY” this coming weekend on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in which an open house will be held at the firehouse. Explore the firehouse, check out the trucks, and see our new air packs! This is a great time for our community members to come and see what we do, ask questions, and fill out an application if you’re interested!
