Lake Placid Sinfonietta thankful for Community Day

To the editor:

Success! The Lake Placid Community Day held on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the North Elba Show Grounds was a complete revelation for me. New at the Lake Placid Sinfonietta this year, I did not know what to expect. Would people come? What would happen? Well, the answer is YES people would, and did, come. And what happened was exactly as hoped: we connected. Non-profits connected with the public and with one another. We shared food, ideas, laughs, handouts, space, and general esprit de corps. I am so proud of my Adirondack community. We are doing so much good to make sure we all succeed, enjoy, stay safe, keep healthy and explore our beautiful place in this world. I got to chat with folks about our Sinfonietta story, adding their names to our mailing list, but I also had a chance to listen to people to learn what they value about life in our Adirondack world. A great time was had by all.

Kudos to the entire Lake Placid Community Day Planning Committee: Valerie Abraham Rogers (chair), Mavis Agnew, Karen Armstrong, Denise Bujold, Haley Breen, Jill Cardinale, Catherine Ericson, Macie Huwiler, Danielle Lacavalla, Bambi Pedu, Stephanie Pianka, Martha Pritchard Spear and Bethany Valenze. It truly takes a village to create a village. My thanks and can’t wait to sign up for next year!
