Rand has the ‘it’ factor

To the editor:

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jay Rand for over 20 years and can attest that he is an individual with a very high level of integrity, drive and personality which enables him to work easily and effectively with everyone alike.

Jay has distinguished himself as leader who has been responsible for the resolution of a myriad of complex issues during his tenure in management at Whiteface Mountain and the Olympic Jumping Center. Jay is an exceptional leader who is fair and consistent. He does not act impulsively, but rather his decisions are well thought out and implemented accordingly.

Jay has what I call the “it” factor-he truly gets it when it comes to focusing on what is imperative for the village and town to continue to thrive in the decades ahead. I have always been keenly interested in the qualities of outstanding leadership and what excellent leaders possess to make them effective. In all that is in print or stated about leadership, one quality always stands out as the most important essential piece and that is “CHARACTER”-having the guts to do the right thing. It is about “TRUST.” Jay’s “CHARACTER” definitely stands above most.

With the challenges that face all of us in the wake of complicated local, state and national events relate directly to the ability to effectively lead and imagine new strategies that will be at the core of the preparation process in order to make a significant difference in the village and town’s success moving forward. These challenges will certainly be met by Jay Rand as North Elba’s supervisor.

Jay Rand will be an exceptional supervisor and has my unconditional support.
