Everything everywhere … all at once

Early voting started Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Mirror Lake Beach House in Lake Placid, and in Lewis, and ends on Sunday, Nov. 5. (News photo — Andy Flynn)

There’s that saying, “When it rains, it pours.” That usually means a lot of bad things keep happening. This week, however, it could just mean it’s a busy time of year. It seems worlds converge — as do events and weather fronts — this time every fall.

Election season, Halloween and that dreaded four-letter word — snow — which blanketed the Olympic Region communities on Wednesday, Nov. 1, typically perceived as the beginning of a six-month Adirondack winter even though technically winter is only three months. We know better.

So yes, when it snows, it pours, too.

High school teams are wrapping up their fall sports season, and families are planning their Thanksgiving holiday dinners — all while we look for the snow shovels, winter hats and gloves we put away in the spring and gawk at the lawn mower covered in snow. Before we know it, November will be gone and it will be Christmas.

It’s that time of year we just try to get through the work week. Oh, and don’t forget to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Happy November!
