The annual Lake Placid Community Day and Picnic will be held on Sunday, June 4, and you are all invited. Rain or shine, it will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the North Elba Show Grounds.

This annual event is designed for those who work, live and volunteer in the village of Lake Placid or town of North Elba. All are encouraged to attend this free event.

Community Day is like an old-fashioned country fair. There will be live entertainment, exhibits, activities and refreshments. It will be a time to see old friends and make new ones.

Free food and beverages will be provided throughout the day by representatives from the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, along with a number of community-based establishments.

Live music will be provided by Quantum Cosmic, featuring members of Annie in the Water, a popular local band.

More than 30 volunteer organizations will be coming out to showcase the wonderful work they do to keep this a vibrant community, and you will have the opportunity to sign up to volunteer for an organization that fits your personality and time availability.

This is also the time to honor the 2023 distinguished volunteers of the year for the village and town: youth volunteer, Grace Ericson; and adult volunteers, Beverley Reid and Martha Swan.

Lake Placid Community Day is a joint initiative of the Lake Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism.

The event was founded in 2018 to foster the spirit of volunteerism and promote it for future generations. It also gives our service organizations the added exposure they need to recruit volunteers and show the community all the work they’ve done over the years.

Visit the North Elba Show Grounds on June 4 and celebrate the people who make this unique community — New York state’s only Olympic village — one of the best places to live and visit on Earth.

Starting at $1.44/week.
