Bob run plans
–
Stanislaus Zentsytski, famous German engineer, sailed from Germany on Wednesday for the United States, where he will supervise the building of the largest bobsled run in the world at Lake Placid for the 1932 Olympic Winter Games.
Two sites have been selected, one on state land on the west slope of the Sentinel range on the main highway to Wilmington and the other at the base of Mount Marcy.
No actual work on the run can begin until the recreational policy of the state as to the building of the run on state land is finally determined by the court of appeals.
In either event, the cost of the run will be borne by the state of New York under legislation passed at Albany last winter.
In order to have two winters in which to correct any imperfections which may develop in the Lake Placid bob run, it is necessary that work be started this summer at the latest.

Airport lease
–
Announcement was made by Lake Placid Club officials on Wednesday of this week that the club has leased the airport on the Cascade Road to Aviation, Training and Transport, Inc. of New York City. This organization, which is a consolidation of several well-known air companies, plans extensive developments for the Lake Placid airport.
This resort will be a principal stop on the New York-Lake Placid-Montreal air route, which will be operated by the company. In addition, instruction in flying will be given at the local airport to all who may desire to train for work in the air.

Chopper champ
–
On Thursday, May 30 at 11 a.m., Peter McLaren, a world champion chopper, will stage a log-cutting contest at the Lake Placid Hardware company’s store on Main Street. Any man is eligible to enter the contest. A prize of $50 will be paid to any contestant if McLaren fails to cut a log in two-thirds of the time the contestant takes.
In vaudeville, circus work and chopping tours, McLaren has chopped before hundreds of thousands.

Elm trees
–
Furthering its plan of adding to the beauty of this resort by means of additional trees planted along the main streets of the village, the village board recently set out, under the supervision of Highway Commissioner Enos Estes, several Siberian elms along Station Street and near the municipal tennis courts on Mirror Lake avenue.
The village board has also had the receptacles for waste placed all along Main Street. It is hoped that, as in past years, everyone will use these green cans for such waste paper and the like as he may wich to dispose of as he walks along the street.
