LIONS CLUB LOG: Summer break over for Lions Club

Summer break is over, and the Lake Placid Lions Club is back in action with a purposeful roar.
First, Jack Moulton took the Lions Club Pledge and was initiated as a member. He is a Lake Placid resident, enjoys golf and is on the board at the Saranac Lake Golf Club. He is the owner and operator of Placid PR, which specializes in commercials, marketing and consulting.
On behalf of the Lions Club, congratulations and welcome aboard!
The first two post-summer meetings were held in September with a good attendance and King Lion Dan Wikoff led discussions about the upcoming Lions Radio Auction, which is normally the largest fundraiser each year.
This year’s auction is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 with the generous donation of airtime by radio station Lake FM 100.7/102.1 FM. The studio will be located at the Hoffman Eells Group CPAs at 2000 Saranac Ave., thanks to Lion Doug Hoffman.
To get step one started, Lion Bob Miller performed the tedious task of preparing and organizing the “Green Pledge Cards,” which were given to appropriate Lions present or kept for distributing at the next meeting to those not in attendance. The cards are then distributed to local businesses and individuals who have and continue to support the Lake Placid Lions Club Auction.
Revenues raised at the auction and various other annual fund raisers are considered to be contributions toward the many projects which the Lions are involved with, including support of the High Peaks Hospice, Lake Placid Ecumenical Food Pantry, Christmas party for town children, youth ski jump competition, Diabetes Foundation, Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, North Country Life Flight, Shipman Youth Center, Boy Scouts and many other services for the community.
In addition, we support the North Country Association for the Visually Impaired, as well as the New York State Lions Federations.
It is only through the generosity of our many supporters that this auction has succeeded for many years.
The good news? It’s not a yellow card as distributed to soccer players for breaking the rules (LOL), so there is nothing to fear when a local Lion presents you with the Green Pledge Card.
We are always open to recruiting and accepting new members.
