BLUE BOMBER VOICES: Heroes and legends

This year, at LPES, students will be learning about all sorts of heroes and legends. The “special” area teachers chose the theme, and students will be learning about music, art, sports, and cultural heroes and legends.

The kick-off event, an-all school photo, had the students arranged on the soccer field in the shape of the LP that marks our student athletes’ uniforms.

The second all-school event was a ceremony honoring the veterans that are in the students’ and staff’s families.

On Nov. 10, the entire student body, as well as the staff, gathered around the flagpole in front of the school. Students and staff who indicated that they had family members who were Veterans of the United States Armed Services, or currently serving, carried the flag to the flagpole as they and their veteran relative were recognized.

The students each had a hand on the flag as they carried it proudly to the flagpole. Mr. Begor helped raise the flag as the names of the students and staff, and their relative were named. After the flag was raised, they led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. The ceremony concluded with everyone singing “Star Spangled Banner.” It was an important tribute to those in our families that have served, and gave students and staff alike a chance to learn more about their families.

Throughout the year, activities will be planned to further the discussion of heroes and legends.

We will have Olympians in to talk with students, and some will attend World Cup events. Visual and performing artists will also be scheduled to allow students to learn more about art and music.

Starting at $1.44/week.
