Cathy was born in Lake Placid on July 30, 1930, to Mary and William McDonald.

She loved returning to Lake Placid each year for the high school reunion, when she could reconnect with childhood friends and neighbors, especially Betty Hunkins.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Mary McDonald, Helen (McDonald) Provo, Therese McDonald, and William McDonald; her husband David M. Hegeman, with whom she had a son, Stephen, and a daughter, Mary Beth; and her second husband, David Lewis.

After graduating from Lake Placid High School, she earned her teaching degree from Cornell University and enjoyed a long career as a Home Economics/Family & Consumer Sciences teacher. She and David Hegeman savored many years of travels within the U.S. and to foreign countries, as well as volunteer work for their church and Catholic Charities.

Her funeral Mass at St. Agnes Church, Lake Placid, will be held at 11 a.m. on July 26, followed by her burial in the St. Agnes Cemetery.
