Born on Feb. 22, 1932, in Lake Placid, she was the daughter of Ernest and Jane Holt.

Alice graduated from the Lake Placid school system and continued her education at Plattsburgh State, where she earned a degree in elementary education.

After college, Alice returned to Lake Placid, where she taught for her entire career. She was a beloved teacher, active member of the Lake Placid community, serving on numerous boards, singing in the Adirondack Community Church and always enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Society.

Upon her retirement, she moved to Stuart, Florida, and found happiness again in the Red Hatters, retired teachers group and once again singing this time in the First United Church choir, where she found dear friends.

Alice was predeceased by her parents; sister Dorothy Proulx; first husband Paul (Bud) Colby; and second husband Bertman Wood.

Arrangements are under the direction of MB Clark funeral home in Lake Placid.

A graveside gathering will be held in the spring of 2025. In her honor, contributions can be made to the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid.
