Peter Burdick

Peter Burdick passed away on April 21, 2024, after a medical emergency. He was just shy of his 60th birthday.

Peter was born in London and when he was young, his family traveled internationally following his father’s work, developing his love of travel. A multi-sport athlete, he had earned a college lacrosse scholarship but chose instead to travel the United States, adventuring and working construction. He loved to sail, taking trips in his sailboat from the Florida Keys to Bahamas and points north. In 2010, he was hitchhiking through the Adirondacks on his way west when he came upon Lake Placid and found a home.

Peter was a well-known feature of Lake Placid, friendly to all and always ready to share a story. Even as his health and mobility declined, he took every opportunity to be outside, to walk or just sit by the lake and enjoy nature’s gifts.

A simple memorial service with stories of Peter’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 on the deck at High Peaks Cyclery, 2733 Main St., Lake Placid.

Starting at $1.44/week.
