Mary K. Mayberry

Mary K. Mayberry, 78, of Lake Placid, died on March 4, 2023.

Born on May 7, 1944, in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of Earl P. and Irene (Bell) Kinville.

Mary graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Albany Business College and graduated in 1963 and from there went to work as a transcriber at Will Rogers Hospital in Saranac Lake. In the fall of 1966, Mary went to work as a transcriber at Placid Memorial Hospital and eventually became the Medical Records Department supervisor. When Placid Memorial and Saranac Lake General Hospital merged to form Adirondack Medical Center, she became a medical coder. Mary worked for AMC and their preceding entities for more than 55 years.

On June 5, 1965, Mary married Joel Mayberry, and the couple settled in Lake Placid. They had four children and had been married 39 years upon Joel’s passing in 2004. Mary and Joel loved their September vacations to Myrtle Beach. Mary loved cookbooks and cooking shows as well as her four cats. Mary was a member of the Lake Placid Catholic Daughters, serving as their treasurer, and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Agnes Church.

Mary is survived by her children, Laurie (Robert) Miller of Lake Clear, Cheryl Mayberry of North Walpole, New Hampshire, David (Patricia) Mayberry of Lake Placid, and Daniel (Ashleah) Mayberry of Lake Placid; and her four Mayberry grandsons, Brooklyn, Henry, Jacob and Samuel, all of Lake Placid.

Mary is also survived by her sister, Tharon (Donald) Giombetti of Marlborough, Massachusetts; brother, Earl P. Kinville Jr. of Baldwinsville; cousin, Mary Loughran (Michael Hortens) of Nyack, New York; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Mary was predeceased by her mother Irene and father Earl; her stepmother, Mary (Pratt); her husband, Joel; and her sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Mulflur Kinville.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at St. Agnes Church prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11. The Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Lake Placid, in May.
