Joseph E. Kerigan III

Joseph Edward Kerigan III, 70, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 22, 2021, at home and surrounded by his adoring family.

Joe was born to Barbara and Joseph Kerigan Sr., in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Springfield.

He fell in love with the Adirondacks as a young boy, spending summers at his grandfather’s farmhouse in Wilmington. He and his wife raised their family near Corning in Western New York state. They later moved to Wilmington full time and spent summers together at his beloved camp on Kiwassa Lake.

Joe was an avid skier. He enjoyed boating, fishing, a good campfire and going for walks with his dog. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Nathaniel Hawthorne College and was the star salesman for Hampden Engineering for over 40 years. He was quick to help others and generous to a fault. Above all, Joe loved spending time with his family and they loved spending time with him. He was the life of every party and was making us laugh right up until the end.

Joe was a devoted husband, father and family man. He was a friend to all, and all who knew him loved him.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Ellen Kerigan; his loving daughters, Francine Rother, and Kathleen and Elizabeth Kerigan; his granddaughters, Lilly, Bridget and Frances; his sons-in-law, Chris and Rory; his sister, Cynthia; dear cousins; in-laws; and his many, many friends.

Calling hours was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 26, at M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Burial followed at St. Agnes Cemetery. The Rev. John Yonkovig officiated.
