Regina LeRoy, 92, formerly of Lake Placid, passed away on March 22, 2021, in Littleton, Colorado.
She was born in Erdberg, Germany in 1929, the youngest of six children to Alois and Katharina (Thurner) Fichtinger.
She was married to Eugene LeRoy on Nov. 16, 1957, in New York City. They were married for 54 years. They were active in retirement, especially as it related to community and environmental concerns.
Regina pursued her love of learning and languages and obtained her master’s degree in German studies while living in Toledo, Ohio. She also held teaching certificates in both Ohio and New York. Regina was a teacher for 25 years, teaching German, Spanish and English as a second language.
She is survived by their two children, Michael LeRoy of Denver, Colorado, and Katharine (LeRoy) Huber and son-in-law Kevin Huber of Parker, Colorado; three grandchildren, David Greenwalt of Plainfield, Indiana, Michael (Rebecca) Greenwalt of Van Wert, Ohio, and Grant LeRoy of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Elijah Downham of Plainfield, Indiana, and Liam and Jackson Greenwalt of Van Wert, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene LeRoy; her parents Alois and Katharina Fichtinger of Stuttgart, Germany; her mother-in-law Ida Fausett of Atlanta Georgia; her sister-in-law, Ruth Breedlove of Atlanta Georgia; her siblings, Anton Fichtinger of Hirschhorn a.d. Neckar, Germany, and Rosa Fichtinger, of Aldingen, Germany; and niece Margaret Fichtinger of Aldingen, Germany.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 8 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 6673 W. Chatfield Ave., Littleton, CO 80128.
