Dorothea Anne McNichol Pratt was born on May 21, 1937, in Bronxville to Olphert and Amelia (Pozun) McNichol. Dotty was the youngest of four children and adored her three older brothers. After graduating from Bronxville High School in 1955, Dotty attended Potsdam State University, graduating in 1959 with a degree in elementary education.

On Aug. 20, 1960, Dotty married the love of her life, Ray Pratt. Together they moved to Ray’s hometown of Lake Placid, where Dotty spent most of her teaching career repeating first and second grades at the Lake Placid Central School. Dotty loved teaching children, and many as adults still fondly remember the songs and games introduced to them by the kindhearted Mrs. Pratt.

Upon retiring, Dotty and Ray moved to Naples, Florida, enjoyed many trips abroad (their favorite being a trip to Greece, Italy and Croatia with their five grandchildren in 2011).

Dotty is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws; two older brothers, Edward and George; sisters-in-law Barbara Pratt, Geri Pratt Keefe and Alice McNichol; and most recently her husband Ray in 2019. She is survived by her brother Robert McNichol, and her three children: Michael (Sandra), Katherine (David) and Thomas (Linda). She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Meghan (Eric), Kevin (Alex), Maura (Zac), Derek (Deryn) and Alessandra (Aaron), who will miss their beloved Emmy. Additionally, there are many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
