Joan M. Strack

Joan Marie Strack, 76, of Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, where she had been a resident since December 2013.

Miss Strack was born Oct. 6, 1938 in Lake Placid. She was the daughter of the late Leon and the late Lena (Smith) Strack.

Joan had a simple but meaningful life, Joan was one of God’s very special children, and she was loved by all who knew her especially her family, to whom she gave of herself continually. May God hold her in the palm of His hand. She had worked at the Holiday Inn, loved country music, dancing, playing cards especially poker Joan also loved quilting and had made several quilts and lap quilts for the senior citizens Christmas gifts.

She is survived by three brothers: Thomas Strack and his wife Hannah of Casenovia, Richard Strack and his wife Nancy of Lake Placid, Francis Strack and his wife Terry of Schnectady; four sisters: Linda Hill and her husband Donald of Lake Placid, Margaret Lewis of Lake Placid, Connie Strack of Buffalo Missouri, and Shirley LaMoy and her husband Raymond of Lake Placid; and her sister-in-law Cheryl Strack of Lake Placid.

She was predeceased by three brothers: Leon Strack, William Strack and Robert Strack; and two sisters: Marion Graham and Sally Gilmore.

Calling hours were held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew Borden pastor of New Hope Church officiated.
