Alexander H. Petro

Alexander Harrington Petro, born Oct. 22, 1963, to Donald and Jay Petro in Schenectady, New York, passed away on Dec. 21, 2014, at his home in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
Alec graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1981 and from Boston College in 1985. Alec received his MBA from the University of Chicago. Throughout high school and college, Alec excelled at cross-country and alpine ski racing, becoming NCSA All American.
Alec married Leah Conti, daughter of Al and Roberta Conti, in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1990. He has three children, Christian (Boston College), Grace (Boston College) and Ben (BC High School). Their family started in Chicago, expanded in Paris, France, and resided in Philadelphia before settling in to their beloved Duxbury home.
Alec was the principal and founder of Bay Hill Capital Management in Duxbury, a financial management and consulting business he founded. He also taught graduate classes at Boston College.
Alec’s passion for sport and competition evolved from running and ski racing to triathlon, and amateur cycling. As recently as September 2014, Alec won the 24-Hour Endurance Mountain Bike World Championship.
Alec was known to his friends and acquaintances as a generous soul and a man of integrity who continuously acted as a mentor, friend, and community leader to improve the lives of others. The list of those who have benefitted from Alec’s generosity of time and resources are too many to count, and his legacy is that of a tireless worker, fierce competitor, dedicated father and husband, and kind friend.
Alec is survived by his wife Leah, children Christian, Grace and Ben, mother Jay, brother and sister-in-law Matt and Amy, adoring nieces Sara and Hanna, and his springer spaniel Lucy.
Alec’s family is grateful for and buoyed by the outpouring support from their countless friends who are invited to say goodbye to Alec.
Funeral services were held at Holy family Church, Duxbury on Saturday Dec. 27 at 11:30 a.m.
He will be forever missed.
